Transliteration
Suhani asked me say some telugu words so she can translate to English, way to show off her telugu language skills. I started asking her few words - “Daggaraki raa - come near”, “Poddunne leguvu - wakeup in the morning”, “Nidra po - sleep” etc etc… Then I said “Abbhaa Telugu bhaaga ardhamavuthunde!” - She translated “Good you are understanding”….she paused, without completing the sentence, when I looked at her she asked “How do you translate word ‘Telugu’ in English?” I laughed and said Telugu in English is also Telugu. So she continued her translation “Good you are understanding Telugu” - “Amma this Telugu I said in the sentence is english telugu…okay…”

Reinvent the wheel
I asked Suhani to read few sentences and she read it fine. As her homework gets finished up quickly, she keep disturbing her sissy. So to keep her busy I asked her to write down all those sentences on a sheet of paper. She replied “Amma, all those sentences are already written why should I rewrite them again.” That is it, she did not write it down untill now.
This morning I thought I could make her write some words. To my surprise, she did wrote it down but it made no sense. I could not understand a letter, forget about the word. She simply scribbled on the paper. Usually her penmenship skills are pretty good. I asked her what she did. She said “That is cursive handwriting. I am learning how to write in cursive”. Here is the picture of her so called cursive.

Literals
While our way back from our friends house after having dinner, kids were talking about eating out. I explained them that we did eat out couple of days back, also eating at friends house is also same as “eating out”.
For that Shivani replied “Amma, let’s order Pizza and get it delivered to home - that is same as eating at the house and not “out”".
