Earnings of Tooth Fairy
Shivani lost one of her teeth this morning. I mentioned tooth Fairy might give you a dollar as this is the 7th one. Shivani gasped and said “What! She always gives me $20″. I replied “She cannot give so much money for every tooth you lose. There are many kids and many teeth”. She gave me a are-you-kidding look and said “She can always sell teeth”. Before I asked “To whom”, she explained “To babies who do not have teeth. Babies parents can always buy’em”.

‘Address’ing Smartness
Every Monday Shivani has a pre-test. If she scores 100% in pretest she does not have to take the real test on Friday. But she would be doing homework on more harder spelling words (enrichment english). Last night I made her write all the words on a sheet of paper. As she missed couple, I wanted her to rewrite all the words, which she did not like. She answered back “I will spell out words but I will not write all of them again.” I said “Spelling out loud is not as effective as writing them down. If you write them down you will remember them pretty good.” She just did not want to write them, so she said “If I write it down they will be on paper, but if I spell it out loud they will reside in my brain for ever.” I teasingly said if she spells them out loud they will disappear in air. “Air is everywhere, I will use these spelling words from air at school” said Shivani.

‘See’
Suhani was checking with me whether girls can watch a movie while I was cleaning up the kitchen. I just said “Choodamu” (will see) and kept quite. She asked me “amma, which choodamu?” - Is it “I will think about it - choodamu” or “we will see the movie - choodamu”.

Think “Twice”
Suhani found some dice from an old game box and was excited. I explained her how to add numbers by rollling the two dice she found. She was excited about the addition game and was playing it where ever and when ever she can. After couple of days she lost one of them. I said “Suhani! you better save your stuff, as now we cannot play this game anymore with one dice”. She gave me a weird look and said “Yes we can, roll the dice twice”.

During Christmas time there was a discussion about Santa not bringing gifts to kids who are naughty or “allari”. Suhi said that she is allari. DP was enquiring “So Suhani you do know that you are allari”. She nodded her head saying “yes”. DP asked “Then why do you do it?”. With her head high up she said “I do what I know and I know what I do”.
Then I saw DP scouring for words…
